I just picked up a 50d from the loyalty program.

My 20d had some sticky buttons as a result of a spill and I had asked that Canon service the 20d. Well they sent me an estimate for about $520 dollars. I got the 50d for $665 with the 28-135 IS lens which I will most likely sell on the sell board here.

Should be here by Friday and a new grip is on the way. That is another story altogether. Have to file a claim with the delivery service as the grip was returned to me with 2 massive cracks in it.

I'll probably get nothing but aggravation from opening a complaint with them. But I have to try.

Thanks

Scott

Awesome!

I just took advantage of the CLP program for a 50D body myself. Mine should be here tomorrow.

I sent in my wife's old SD1000 that I dunked into a rum and coke . My 40D body died while on vacation. I plan on sending that away for repair but I am assuming the repair will be in the ballpark range of what you were quoted. I think the main PCB is dead, I keep getting the "busy" indicator and it kills batteries in an hour or two while turned off. To me that indicates a short somewhere.. Strangley to me, Canon doesn't offer anymore credit in return for a more expensive body.....

Anyway, good luck with your new body and congratulations!

Travis

just ordered 7d ...expecting it tomorrow. Was REALLY hard to pass up the deal on the 50D... basically 460 net price after selling 28-135. Enjoy the camera!

I just ordered a 50D from the CLP as well. Should be arriving on Thursday. Definitely a much needed upgrade over my Rebel XS.

I just ordered one too. I can't believe how low they dropped the price now! Especially if I actually sell the 28-135 like I told myself I would and don't try to justify keeping it as a "backup lens"... but that's a different story.

I was waiting, waiting, waiting on the 7D but I had bad timing and kept missing them while they were in-stock. In the meantime, I saw the 50d combo and couldn't pass that up, it'll at least hold me over for a while.... I know it's the same sensor as my t1i but I'm sick of feeling like I have a plastic toy camera. Even if the IQ isn't different I'm very excited for real dials and more buttons

Good call everyone. I pulled the trigger on the same deal a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier. It's a seriously amazing deal considering that the body only still sells new on Amazon for over 1K. The 28-135 is a pretty decent lens if you're just starting out, as well.

I bought my 50D a few months ago, it was new, I swear. My only regret is I did not order the lens also, and sell it, to make it even a better deal. I paid $600 to my door(560 plus tax, free shipping), and was very happy with that price.

Great camera, I love it.

I would have only bought the body but it was not an option and I could not for the life of me get a 7d. They were always out of stock.

So as a backup to my 1d Classic, I'll now use the 50d. And I'll save on batteries since the 50d uses the same batteries as the 20d.

When the 1d Classic dies, I don't know what I am going to do.............

Mine should be here tomorrow or Friday morning. Can't wait!

My 50D body just arrived via FedEx. Looks like a brand new camera!

I'm loving the upgraded LCD from my old 40D. Should be a joy to use.
