Hi,

I am thinking about heading out to BC/Vancouver in December, but am not sure whether it would be a good time to come - what's the weather like? Is it nice enough to take some pictures? Any particular places you would recommend? How far is it to go skiing if the urge overtook me?

Please please let me know,
Saqib.

Weather: rainy and cloudy most days of the week
Skiing: 20 minutes from downtown
Places: almost anywhere you look. Lots of locations from Stanley park, local mountains, the ocean, beaches (not warm enough to swim though)
Nice enough to take pictures: of course, we do it all the time.

Simon Faser University (good place for taking Lower Mainland night shoot);
Granville Island Market;
White Rock (nice sun set and mud flat);
Gas Town;
Orange 5 (strip dance, but not sure it is still there);

If you are sunny kind of guy than come at summer.

If you are winter kind of guy, then:
For skying, after Dec. in Low Main land Vancouver;
Dec is also very good for skying in Whistler & Black Comb but 2 and half hrs from Vancouver;
Personally, I will go to Stanley pack after heavy snow for photo shoot.

actually I am a "food" guy - I have been to Toronto plenty of times but I wanna hit something new. I figure Vancouver will cover the picture and skiiing aspects while staying true to the food aspect - i.e. krispy kremes, subway, godiva, etc etc etc. *drools*. oooohhh yeah....

btw what is the iterial? and is lake louise not frozen over in winter? if not, then for sure that is a trip for me - all the picture i have seen of the place are bloody amazin!

Lake Louise is frozen over in winter. I was there in April a few years ago and was able to walk out on top of the lake on the ice. That in itself was amazing, even though I was not able to get pictures of the amazing 'mineral' blue lake.

Have a great trip. I loved it there.

iterial = interior (my guess)

I'm told Vancouver Island has mild winters, so definitely go there, visit Victoria, Buchart Gardens, small fishing villages as you have time. Bhuddist Temple in Richmond is very interesting & photogenic.

December is fine here. You'll have plenty to shoot.

Amazing how this site is worldwide but so many people post pics of travel here and take them.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
