After reading all of the threads about people unhappy with the IQ from the 7D, I was a little worried about picking one up. No worries anymore. It's a beast of a camera, and this is coming from someone that lives by the goodness of full frame. Will take some getting used to getting used to the 1.6 crop, but very impressive IQ.

Few shots from today's test run. Images are pretty much SOOC. Just regular lightroom import settings.

Huh... wha...? Who? A thread that actually praises the IQ of the 7D? *rubbing eyes*

:D You must have gotten that rare copy that actually works. Enjoy the new toy!

That 4th shot looks like the one on my flickr I shot with my Pentax K20D and FA 80-320 lens. I love the 7D! Nice shots!

I'm totally happy for you. Canon will have returned mine within the next week or so, and I only hope I'm as pleased as you are. I want nothing more than to love this camera. :-)

I read about how horrible the noise is on the 7D. That bird shot is ISO 800. Sure you see some grain, but with very minimal NR in Lightroom, it will clean up with no sweat.

I am also impressed...

I shot these in RAW + JPEG (small) and this is the result from the small JPEG. I will do the RAW this weekend...

Why did I do JPEG small? because I had been playing with the various parameters of the camera and ended up with that combination. I shot these a few hours after I received the camera from Canon loyalty Program.

70-200mm f/4L IS lens, ISO 200, Canon 550EX on a Stroboframe camera-flip bracket bounced off the ceiling using a Joe Demb Flash Diffuser Pro.

There is nothing wrong with the 7D. When reading these negative reports you have to also bear in mind that operator error is usually the culprit.

I really like my 7D as well. The only problem my camera has is.....ME! I bought it mainly for sports and it does a heck of a job. Now once my skills get up to par, I will really be happy.

It seems that a little bit of PP sharpening does wonders for the 7D's images.

... and I got the other one, Julian. :p

Seriously, I think that most of the problems are pilot error.

I had one of the first well-working units (1 week after release), and I hope the new owner is enjoying it! That makes 5 or so now. :)

Great animal shots, the best I can do is zoo shots, where we are under the misfortune of having 4 inch plastic between us and the beautiful cats. :(

The only problem I had with my 7D was a problem with the 24mm F1.4L II and it. In the end I don't technically know which part was at fault but I blame the 24L II since all my other lenses worked perfectly. But then again I went through 3 copies of it....Either way Canon fixed it (after three tries...) Oh well third time is the charm!

I love the 7D, I miss the focusing screen of my 50D but oh well. The AF point LCD screen is nicer in other ways to make up for it.

Have one at work and just added one to my personal kit. I've been really pleased with both of them. I think good glass helps both with the IQ and the overall resolution.
