I can't quite figure out why, but I really like this shot I got from this year's L.A. County Fair.

Canon EOS 20D, Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L @ 70mm, 1/125s, f/4, ISO 100

I could have posted it in Transportation, but I think it's the people that make it work. Too bad I wasn't aiming the camera a little more to the right. That might have made it a bit better.

Nice shot :D

Still, my first thought was the same ... why not in the 'transportation' section?

Next time, name the image 'Girl in a 1947 Buick ...', then it fits here

Best regards,
Andy

I like it too, Lonnie. I think there is a strong feeling when seeing the elderly woman in the front seat as compared to the little girl in the back. I always thought the adults sitting in the front seat were sooo lucky when I was a kid.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

it's terrific Lonnie
the people make it look something like a Norman Rockwell type of poster
great old fashioned look and atmosphere about it
and the girl is beautiful.
the contrast of the young and the old is really lovely.
the other kid inside in the shadows looks good
love the shot.

Beautiful shot Lonnie, I like it just the way it is. Yet another Norman Rockwell, 'Saturday Evening Post' cover inspired photo.

You think it has that Rockwell look too, huh? I guess that must be what I like about it so much. I also liked the contrast between the old woman and the young girl, which is why I wish I had framed it a little more to the right and not cut off the woman so much.

If you allow me to wax philosophically, get a little Fruedian, I think the way you cropped it shows a passing of time i.e the older generation moving on, and a younger generation moving in. and yes Rockwell all the way.

Sorry, disagree. The posted crop is if anything too close - more of the bgrd crowd and scene would channel Rockwell perhaps. In the crop above there's a odd line of bgrd above the car roof... but if you crop in closer to cut it you'll only have burgundy/chrome frames around the passengers... difficult choice!

I always think signwriting like this owner has put on detracts and is not photogenic... can it be cloned out... otherwise this could be a case of cropping until theres nothing left.

Re the real subject - the girl in centre of the comp. Centre comp of that head could be better offset... I wish she had her head turned your way or you were positioned forward of her not adjacent. Her face could have made the photo more of a success.

Interesting way to look at it. I hadn't thought of it that way.

I was going to crop the background above the car out, but that would have cut the smiling guy in the upper left corner in half and I didn't want to do that. I kind of like him there, anyway.
