As I'm sure some of you know Tuscaloosa Al just got rocked by a tornado. I'm in Birmingham, which also got hit. This is a shot of the tornado as it passed the UAB campus.

This thing is huge. If you haven't heard already, It caused massive damage. As someone who took storm classes along with amateur radio classes as a child, I was fascinated by this storm. Seeing it materialize live on TV was an experience i will never forget.

This photo is far from perfect, but it shows how close the tornado came to our campus. The damage sustained in downtown Birmingham is yet to be seen.

It's a nice picture. Not sure it's Astronomy or Celestial though.

It's a nice picture. Not sure it's Astronomy or Celestial though.

Says in the title -

"Stars, galaxies, clouds, Auroras, Klaatu..."

I would assume this counts as a cloud.

I've sent it into the local stations. It's got some feedback on their Facebook as well. Really wish I could have made it outside for better shots.

Thanks for sharing the photo. It brings it home when I see the pictures here...sometimes the news just misses the point.

Your photo is actually quite incredible? You have caught the rain that many times shadows or cloaks such a Tornado from the view of those close by on the ground. Nice shot!

My Sympathies to those in the wake of these storms..........

The loss of life with the storms that passed through Alabama is horrible. St. Louis also had a major Tornado pass through on Good Friday. Thank the lord no one lost their life. Sadly, I can't say that about the Alabama Tornado. My heart, and sympathies go out to those who lost loved one is these storms.
