You can always get a used Vivitar 70-300mm.

There has always been Skylines and Skyline GT-R, but the new GT-R isn't built on the same platform as the current Skylines to my knowledge. Are the new 370Z and G37's built on the same platform?

As far as I know there built on almost identical platforms differing in length and a couple of other points.
But that doesn't necessarily make it a offshoot of a Skyline, just like the Laurel, Cefiro, Stagea etc are not part of the Skyline heritage.
(not that I'm all that interested in the 370Z/G37-V36 models, Skylines lost most of there appeal to me after the R31 )

Well... you have a few options...

1. El Cheapo EF-S 55-250 IS
Pros: Low price, decent IQ, super small and light
Cons: No USM, f4-5.6?

2. EF 70-200 f4 IS
Pros: Excellent IQ, USM, kinda small and light
Cons: F4

3. Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS HSM
Pros: Great IQ, HSM, f2.8
Cons: Sigma (not really a con for me), heavier lens

4. EF 70-200 f2.8 IS II
Pros: No compromises, the best
Cons: Big price, heavier lens

The 55-250 IS is about $200-$250 USD here.
Both the 70-200 f4 and the Sigma are around $1,300 USD.
The 70-200 f2.8 IS II is around $2,500 USD new... it's a big boy

There is also the Canon 70-300L... it is suppose to have excellent IQ, but the variable aperture, weight, and $1,600 price tag kinda turns me off.

Don't forget the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (not the L version, and definitely not any of the 75-300mm lenses). $530 price tag and excellent IQ. Its main drawback is it front focuses, so the front of the lens rotates during focusing making a CPL filter awkward to use.

You lens shoppers do know that POTN has lens tables that will give you lots of options for replacing the 75-300mm, don't you?

I believe it was, it might still be, the fastest production sedan, at least in terms of Nurburgring times.

Nice cars. Fast and cushy. Last ones I got to test drive were the CTS V 4 with direct gasoline injection. That was a very nice car to do the acceleration and braking checks on for the PDI.
