(saying this not knowing what your lens are). I think you should just stick to nikon for a back up instead of getting two systems so you could use both lens perfectly on both camera. Just my 2 cent not really liking the situation with Nikon here... if I will not lose a lot of money on the D700 I would definitely switch, I just don't wanna rush things..actually I don't need to rush things
