because I want to buy expensive lenses and when I do I want to have good support available... Nikon distributor is a rip off so I need to buy Gray units..now with gray units the problem is service centers (I don't have anywhere to go to). while Canon service center is just 10 minutes away from me hehe

Oh then I guess this would be a plausible reason to switch. Ahh now you got my mind Niven the other way:lol: if I would pick out a camera for you it would be 5dIII and a 16-35 or zeiss 21.

see now.. you see what I see

I'll leave that Zeiss 21 with you...I'll get the 16-35mm or 17-40 if I go switch

buy an adapter for my Sigma 12-24mm to use it with Canon if I can't sell it

and try to sell the Nikon D700 for $2000... if I could sell it for $2000 at the current exchange rate I would be very happy already. I will just lose about $400

If you had a 5D MKII you wouldn't have to worry about MP :p

Julian can keep the zeiss for now he does work with that lens haha:D. That one thing I love a bout my 70-200 II bout for 2200 and now selling used for 2200 or 2150 will not lose much money:D. I would think the 17-40 would work bet for you I don't hunk you would need the extra stop of light forth day time sea scapes.

yeah how do you type? hahaha

yeap I really don't need the additional stop of light for that lens... I will still weigh my options, worst comes to worst I will buy the 70-200mm VRII and be done with it

and just deal with the Nikon problems later on if and when I encounter them.. I am over analyzing things too much hehe

Jake my original Plan was to stick with Nikon for at least 3-5 years

and with the D700 for 3 years at least :D I might just do that if I really really want to get a lens badly hehe

I am just on my 10th month and I am already thinking of switching back (w/ no relation to how the D700 works whatsoever), I should just shaddup and buy some nice lenses I guess hehe

hahahahaha true enough

I am seriously getting back down to reality now... and can see the path clearly...if I need to chalk up $1500 just to switch from Nikon to Canon I might as well not, I surely won't be spending that much if in case the D700 needs repair (I hope haha)
