the faster the T1 time the more ability to freeze the subject with a relatively slow shutter speed

your strobe speed essentially becomes the shutter speed in a sense, profoto and broncolor strobes have 1/6000 or better times :D

I suspect they are way expensive then?

I heard Einstein have a really fast T1 time, it was over 1/10,000 if I remember correctly.

I shoot surfers with my 70-200 II it works ok but i have to crop quite a bit which the lens does good with but would like something longer.

400 f5.6L, cheap, long, sharp, fast AF.

So is it possible to fire non-Elinchrom strobes along with the Elinchrom strobes?

I currently have two Interfit 200WS strobes, I want to get 2x RX300 and 2x RX600 for a studio setup.

when you get eli's you will end up with the skyport reciever/transmitterset up

the RX use an RX reciever and you would need to buy 2 universal skyport for your other strobes

http://www.warehouseexpress.com …iversal-receiver/p1028349 (external link)

then you can fire all six, but you will only be able to raise and lower power to the RX strobes from the transmitter not your other strobes

See my suggestion, Sigma 50-500 OS or Canon 100-400L or 400 f/5.6L

yeap I am really thinking hard about getting one of these...ain't there an IS version though? I think a 1.4 TCON would work very nice with that lens hehe

hahahaha that's manageable

7D to a 5D2 is hardly an upgrade when it comes to certain types of photography :p :p :p

well i was going to suggest the mk 4 as a compromise to Jake because that's what i did

but i figured it would just be too rational and i would get flamed by haters

No IS, but with Surf, you are on a tripod anyways

As for tripods... I have a few :p I don't know if any of them can take 800mm... but I can try, better than hand holding!
