You can pick and choose any three of many for $300. Probably not 'cheap' by some standards, but a really nice starting point. Backgrounds are nice.

Space, but the best thing about a white seamless background is that by varying the amount of light on the background, you can go from white, to any shade of gray, to black. You can also color it by gelling your flashes; the lower the power, the more vibrant the color. Hi. I'm Anton.

Apr 29, 2011 10:49 | #19 I've noticed playing around with my white muslin that gray is easy to accomplish by shutting off the background light. I can also make white with a blue background by cranking up the light. Gels was the answer I was looking for! I don't have any gels. Hmmmmm.... Dave

It came with a green muslin also, which isn't in the picture. Pretty sturdy for my needs. That one looks like the 2 muslin set, if you scroll down, there's the same set with the third chromakey bg for $173...is that the one you bought? Hi. I'm Anton.

Gels are really inexpensive, and definitely add to the versatility of your background. I see you have a 580 EX in your sig; if you're using speedlights, Rosco makes a strobist pack of gels that is pretty good. Hi. I'm Anton.

I'll admit, I went with something similar for my stands to start. My black muslin is now used to hold my couch up, and the white muslin hasn't moved in 2 years more than once. I bought the 2 muslin set and they sent me three...bonus! flickr

I also bought a Vivitar 285 HV flash as a supplement. Nice, cheap little flashes! Dave

I get that they're some high quality ones that have been shown, but like the deal above, 3 for $300? To me, that's unnecessary. For $300, I could have a complete background stand setup, A-clamps, sandbags, and still have enough money left over to buy multiple rolls of 107" seamless. To each his own I suppose, but the wrinkles are a killer for me. ^agree here. Muslin is a pain when it comes to wrinkles and such. I hate a million clamps holding it in place to smooth it out. I also agree that the cost of the seamless paper is great and it works well for me.
