Earlier I showed a couple of pics of this woodpecker that suddenly showed up at my feeding area this morning. He returned this afternoon and after many many trips between the perches and the woods with a peanut it is looking promising that I have a new resident that will be coming regularly. I was so excited watching him return this afternoon that I just couldn't resist slipping out to the blind and taking a few pics to post. To be honest he is not shy at all and I quickly got a lot of shots so I just sat and watched him come and go for about 45 minutes. What a beautiful bird! Does anyone know the differences, if any, between males and females?

Did I mention just how much I love my driftwood perches!

C&C always welcome.

He's a gorgeous bird Mike...these are fantastic shots. Keeping my fingers crossed that you do have a new resident and I'm looking forward to seeing more shots posted of him.
