Hi all,

We've been kinda busy here with nesting season and haven't been on the forum for awhile. But I wanted to quickly stop in with an update on our 1st Bluebird nesting of the 2011 season...
We have 5 nestlings in the box who are 17days old today. They're peeking pretty good now and we'll be on fledge watch starting early tomorrow morning. I hope you'll join us in wishing them all good luck with their first flights, and we'll try to get some shots of the event to share here soon.

Meanwhile, here are some recent photos of their proud parents, Missy & Ben:

Ken, what do you pay these guys to pose for you? The bluebirds in these parts are a flighty bunch and take off if you so much as turn in their direction, let alone pull a camera on them.

The detail in your images are stunning, as usual.

Sigh,

Your Bluebirds look better than ever Kenn, must be nice to have "near fledging" and I have had few migrants and snow on the ground for the last few days..... lovely shots of your proud parents, I will be looking forward to your usual "tray full" of fledglings ;)

Thanks everybody,

All the nestlings spent another night in the box last night. So today we fully expect it to be Showtime. :)

Sigh,

Ron is correct Nancy, it's the mealworms... ;)
...and maybe our near-fanatical devotion to to their well-being.
We do everything we can to assure a safe and desireable habitat for our birds, and they reward us many fold with their beauty, up close.

Ron - All these shots were from the SX30.

Thanks again all... we'll be back soon.

Kenn
