Why not get 550ex? Works like a charm with flexTT5 and AC3.

bobby I'll buy one of yours :)

never had a single problem with the flextt5 and 580exII. i always shoot in manual and sometimes with hss enabled. i leave pre-flash boost disabled at all times though. never touched the ac3 sock and the hotshoe adapter thingy either.

I would think it really depends on what 580EXII you got. I realize that my friend's 580EXII does work very well with my Flex. My copies though produce too much RF that's why it misfires 50% of the time.

I found two solutions from this forum:
a) Separate the flex with the flash using the OC-E3. My results produced 100ft range without misfires.

b) Buy the AC7. It now comes with the AC57, something that was complained about when using external power source at the launch of AC7. With this solution, I got to more than 100ft ...maybe 150...after that...there was no reason for me to test more. I don't shoot farther than that.

AC57

I think it would cost them too much to retool their molds. Supposedly, they planned the AC7 that way

I just missed this conversation....the AC7 now comes with the AC57. I just bought mine from Amazon and it came in last friday.

580EXII with AC7 and the AC57 cable adapter work fine. The added advantage is a great umbrella mount that keeps the flash head close to the center of the umbrella.

I think there are now more treads regarding Pocket Wizard RF problems than there are noisy 580EX and 580EXIIs :-)

I figured they'd have to...kind of like how the AC5 sock ships with them now.
