Just got an offer from Adobe for PSE users to upgrade to Lightroom 3 for $99. I also have DxO Optics Pro and it looks like some of the features are the same. Is it worth $99 to get into lightroom?

Lightroom is an awesome program if you think you need it.Only you can say if it is "worth" it or not. I have Lightroom and Photoshop, but I use Bridge/ACR/Photoshop probably 80% of the time.

I prefer Lightroom over Photoshop for post-processing/noise reduction.

Unless the offer expires in a short time, download the trial and give it a spin before buying a registration key.

Try it for free. I think you'll find it's worth $100.

Purchase of Lightroom is absolutely worth it! That is the price I originally paid as a user of its predecessor RawShooter Pro, before it was bought out by Adobe. Never regretted it.

Go for it, I think you'll be glad you did. It's an absolute bargain compared to photoshop for what it does. Not sure what all you're using now but I can't image organizing and labelling thousands of raw files without lightroom or a very similar program

$100 is a serious score....I've used PSE7 for a while and as I started taking more sports photography LR became very nice to use. The learning curve isn't too bad coming from PSE but it will take a few sessions to get the hang of. I still use PSE7 for more involved PP but otherwise I use LR for over 90% of my PP.

As did I. Funny thing is that I was seriously contemplating purchasing the program at the full price and, viola, I get an e-mail from Adobe with the offer! I think I shall start contemplating PSCS 5!
