Here is an interesting project.....

IMAGE: http://craphound.com/images/hiv_left.jpg

Wayne Martin Belger created the blood camera (external link), which incorporates HIV-infected blood that acts as a red filter for portraits of HIV+ people. Now he's taking the project, which is called "Untouchable," to Africa:

I'm taking the untouchable to Sierra Leona, Liberia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Calcutta and 5 locations in Cambodia to do portraits of people living with HIV. I'm working with a major international HIV Health organization to make it all happen and they are really excited about the possibility of this project creating a new view of the global HIV community. So far, I've photographed about 60 people all over the US. With the Africa/Asia photos it will give a world contrast on how your geo location makes all the difference in your well-being and how major pharmaceutical profits need are at the heart of life and death.
I have a publisher that wants to do a book on the project and two major venues that are excited about exhibiting the finale work next year.

That's pretty disturbing...I think a regular red filter would have been fine. This is going that step to far.

I'm just waiting till something happens and he comes in contact with that HIV+ blood because of his camera.... Really not needed.

Did he hold an HIV blood drive or what? That's pretty disgusting.

direct link to the rest of them. The heart and skull cameras make the HIV camera look tame by comparison

Well, If I remember correctly, HIV is a very weak virus outside of the body and is only able to survive a few hours. So, there really isn't much of a danger issue of contracting it, but yes I agree, it's really going a bit too far.

that whole website is pretty gross. I was not a fan of his pictures that were taken with the "heart" camera. that's just not needed.

I'm assuming anyone using the camera would be wearing really thick gloves to protect from an "accident"? :/

I don't see the benefit of it. Seems like a flashy gimmick to me. But hey, if he wants to do it...I'm not going to stop him.
