I took a wonderful picture of my niece, and I tried different effects on photoshop to enhance and make this picture look extra special. I even tried to make the photo sort of look vintage, but I got to the point where I gave up. My photosop skills are beyond great :(. Any ideas on what I could do to this picture? oR IS ANYONE willing to try something with this photo. Help is much appreciated thank you x

Just a few quick suggestions, assuming that you know how to use the quick selection tool to create a mask so you can work on her face. First, lighten her face a little so it stands out more. Second, increase the face contrast slightly so it has more definition. You can do both of these with levels using the layer mask to restrict your processing to the face. Finally, add just a bit of red to the face, as it almost has a slightly blue cast from the curtain. Finally, I would dodge the outdoor background so it doesn't call as much attention to itself. Hope this helps.

One more comment. Curves will actually do a better job than levels, so you might try that instead in my suggestion above.

Here's my take on it: I just simplified it, removing the distraction of color and taking out some of the bright lights that were to her right. Rather than being sandwiched between eye catching purple drapes and bright window light, it allows the eye to be more drawn to her.

You don't have image editing turned on, but since you asked.

Copied the bg and flipped, masked to just the curtains. Used free transform to change the fold of the curtains so they don't look the same and cloned a couple of spots. Used a slight curve to lighten her face and another slight curve to darken the rest.

Didn't spend much time, just wanted to give an ideal.

Just brightening the whole photo, and warming it up will get rid of some of the distracting elements in the photo. From there I selected the edge of her hair on the window side and feathered the selection and than brightened that to give it a little more of a rim light.

I desaturated the colors a little and then upped the yellows...

I also think it's in need of a b&w conversion. Here's my take, cropped portrait.

Obviously if I had the original photo the work would be better, not a whole lot of detail can be kept at this low of resolution.
