Another Alaskan "what the heck is it" bird. I thought it was a loon but I can't find a picture online that matches...

Looks different than the "Common" Loons I see in Wisconsin, but enough like a Loon that I am betting that your right about that part of it.

Someone here will know what kind, I am sure.

it looks like a Guillemot to me, but I'm not really sure - and a nice shot of it!

Thanks so much, everyone! So I picked up three life birds on that trip as well: common murre, thick-billed murre, and pigeon guillemot. Not to mention roughly a kazillion shots of eagles (I'm still processing some even now!).
