#1 is more relaxed and comfortable and you can see his eyes much better. It's well exposed and a very nice portrait. Number 2 isn't too bad either but he's squinting like the sun came out from behind a cloud or something and so he looks uncomfortable.

In both I cases I would have suggested to move to the right or left so he didn't have a pole going through him. Also, if you are going to use a pattern like that as a background either throw the angle off wildly like it was done on purpose or make sure it's straight like the horizon.

Yep, #1 is my fav of these two. :)

I really like the blue on the dark skin tones. This image really pops. Good job. In the 2nd one it seems that the bleachers are angling to camera left.

1 is really nice. Your exposure and colors look absolutely perfect to me. If you shot just a little lower angle so that the cap covered all of the stairs, the angle of the bleachers would lead the eye straight to his face. The subject fills the frame in 1 which is important because of the background, which is why I don't like 2 so much. The background is very busy and distracting even though it is geometrical. It is still relatively in focus and I find myself looking all over the photo instead of the subject.

#1 is my favorite as well, my first thought was the cap looks funny on his head but that's usually the case with those things lol. Might have done a few with him holding it as well.

Both have poles going through his head although #1 is better since it's a bit out of focus.

i am a fan of #1 as well. i just wish it was either straightened out or a simple crop of the left upper corner. i guess i don't like that i can see where the bleachers end. but otherwise.. love that shot alot.
