Exactly right. :)

Well, I try:)!

It is important for people to realize that the differences you see between DPP and ACR/Lightroom are less about the Raw data itself and more about those settings you make that don't alter the Raw data itself. It can indeed be eye-opening when someone in DPP just changes the Picture Style to Neutral and realizes that it is much closer to the Adobe default. Then, you can logically conclude that you can tweak the Adobe settings for Contrast, Saturation and Sharpening to get a similar "look" as a Picture Style, although I generally prefer the Adobe toolset for "fine-tuning" things.

That doesn't mean that Adobe and DPP render the Raw data in exactly the same way, although I've never really looked into any little differences between say DPP neutral and Adobe's default. It really doesn't matter to my workflow, since I'm happy with the results I get from Lightroom. And, for a quick in-out conversion, I can be happy with DPP!

Yes. I like faithful contrast -1 and saturation +1 for skin tones and ACR is pretty close. I gotta say I'm very pleased with not only colour but many other things Abode has improved. I used to hate ACR. Now I find I'm using more. I think it brings out a shade more detail than DPP when I'm doing my birding. Highlight recovery is superior. I still like DPP skin tones better as ACR is too yellowish to me. I know I can correct that but I just have not gotten around to it..
