I am currently sitting on a Sigma 50 lens that doesnt get used just because I can't trust the AF. It works one time and not the other for me. At the time, it was the better of two lenses I got from BHphoto. It is a frustrating lens for me; I should probably buy a much better camera screen so I can identify in-focus subjects.

I own only a 24-70 2.8 and 10-22mm EF-s lens. I rent a 70-200 for all my wedding and engagement shots. I absolutely love this lens for portraits. The compression factor can't be beat with for the speed of the lens. The length also lets your decisively choose your background. Just moving slightly from left to right or up or down changed the background while your subject doesn't have to move an inch.
The sigma(even if you get a great copy now) might not work with the next body you buy. It's not worth it in my mind to buy something I will want to use for years but may not be compatible with a body 6 months down the line. Good luck.

The 70-200 mii is the best photo purchase I have made since my hassey!
I can't see replacing it. Ever.
I might consider adding an 85 or 50 1.4 but never getting rid of my baby.
I use it primarily for weddings, engagements, headshots, models and portraits.

Okay I decided to sell my 70-200 2.8 IS. I will go with the sigma 50 and 85 1.4. I looked at my meta date and I only used from 20-30 shots over 85mm the entire wedding. I 2nd most used focal length was 50mm. Thanks again everyone.
