Powershot S5 IS Help with lens/filters

Can someone point me in the right direction for finding lenses and or filters for my s5 IS. I have found many on ebay and on amazon but want to be sure that what I'm getting is good. I'm just a camera happy mom and love taking lots of pictures and would like to play around with more options. Really, I'd like to have a better lens but that doesn't seem to be an option for my camera, so after viewing some sample pics, I think filters might be nice. Where can you point me and what tips can you give??
Thanks

This forum is for the G series PowerShot cameras, you would probably get a better response in the "Small Compact Digitals by Canon" forum.

That being said have you seen this on Amazon (external link) it is a Canon product.

No other lens for the S5 other than what you have... which is very good btw. Maybe an adaptor tube will allow filters? It's been awhile since I owned a S2 so not sure if that's an option...maybe someone else will jump in..

To attach filters, you would need something like this
http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1304266832&sr=8-7 (external link)
Basically you take off the ring around your lens and put this on, and voila, instant filter thread. This will also allow you to attach canon accessories (teleconverter and close-up lens) and makes your camera look beefier.

You won't be able to use your old cap and you need a 58mm cap from this page. Or on eBay, depending on how long you can wait.
http://www.amazon.com …keywords=58mm+cap&x=0&y=0 (external link)

As for filter, the most useful one you will find is a circular polarizer. It saturates the sky in bright daylight and cut flare and reflections and etc. Similarly, you will need a 58mm thread one. Neutral density ones can be useful too, but I will let you find out what they do. With a S5, you can get a mid price range filter. Like the HMC or the Pro1 Digital lines from Hoya. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ (external link) or http://www.amazon.com/ (external link) are good websites to look.

I can't comment on the the canon teleconverter or close-up lens because I never use one.

You need a 52mm to 58mm lens adaptor, look for metal as opposed to plastic adaptors.
Here is a list I have compiled. I have the Raynox 1540, DC 58N, and WC-DC58A.
Don't use them that much, but they can be handy if one needs them. The S5 is pretty versitile on it's own, I had these lenses for an S3 I previously owned and kept them because they fit the S5 as well.

Telephoto:
Sony VCL-DH1758
Sony VCL-DH0758 1.7x Tele-lens
Raynox DCR-2020 PRO (2.2X) Telephoto Lens
Raynox 1540 (1.5x)
Canon TC-DC58N which is a 1.75x teleconvertor for the powershot/g series. It says compatibility is the same back to S2

Wide angle:
Canon WC-DC58A (.75x)
Raynox DCR-720
Raynox DCR-730
Raynox 6600

When I had the S5IS, I got this adapter tube

http://www.dealextreme.com …er-tube-for-canon-s5-8679 (external link)

I then 58mm filters. I had a Hoya CPL that worked well... I used the Sony VCL dh-1758 teleconverter and got some great bird photos.

I also got the Raynox 150 macro lens that fits on that tube. Excellent macro lens.
