grip for my 7D

are the non canon brand grips just as good as the canon version? i wish it wasnt $200 but i see other non canon brand that have good reviews on B&H but are they are quality equipment?

im torn because i want to get a grip in the near future but dont know if it is worth my while to save for the BG-E7 over the knockoff brands

i will be shooting a lot of sports and doing even photography in 2 months and im trying to prepare. my next purchases are also the 135L and the 50 1.4, i will have a 70-200 but i wont be paying for it

I have a Canon grip and a Zeikos grip I purchased from B&H. As far as I can tell the Zeikos performs like the Canon, i.e. same functionality in terms of buttons/controls, battery info registering with camera, etc. Biggest difference seems to be the Canon has the rubberized material on front and back of grip, the Zeikos front only. Also the Zeikos has a ridge on the front acting as a finger rest when shooting in vertical orientation. Won't hazard a guess as to whether or not the Zeikos will survive the same amount of pounding as the Canon, but you can get about four of 'em for the price of one Canon.

how do you feel about the overall quality of the zeikos. other than the rubber grip which i can buy and put on the grip if i needed it that bad. i take excellent care of my equipment and i am not as concerned as to the beating it can take since im confident it will barely take any beating at all lol

Polaroid makes a grip that looks nice, but I can't vouch for it's quality.

I personally have no problem or qualms with the quality....as comfortable using it as I am the Canon.

I got this Grip for my 7D mostly because of price and it came with 2 Chipped Battery's so far I am luving it .

I have the polaroid. It's okay, not great. The instructions came in a language that resembles English, but no that closely. No problems with basic functionality but the remote doesn't do much. If mine was stolen, I wouldn't replace it but I wouldn't go out of my way to lose it either.

My Zeikos has done an excellent job so far. Good fit and functional, I'm happy with it.

Just received my Opteka grip for my 7D. It is a bit chunky, but I guess that is to be expected with two LP-E6 batteries crammed in there. Overall it is nice, it does everything it should. My only issue with it, is that the shutter button is quite sensitive. It'll take some getting used to, but no biggie.

i have an oem grip on my 7d. i know the grip is made from the same material as the camera(mag alloy), but i don't know if the 3rd party ones are the same

Have a third party grip on my 50D, but went with Canon grip for my 7D and think it is not that much better than the third party models. I had hoped the Canon might have some kind of sealing around the camera battery door, but nothing extra. Inner frame may be of less expensive materials but cannot tell looking at it. The only reason I have a grip is that I use live view a lot and it eats up batteries!

Hated my Opteka on my t2i but really like my Zeikos on my 7D.

thanks guys im starting to rethink my buy next list as i know the grip will help soo much over a 135L which idk how much i will use in the near future for sports. wants versus needs
