okay... so if I take a 'landscape' photo with the G12 all is fine with the world... but if I take a 'portrait' photo things just aren't the same. I use LR3 to import and manage all my photos. I also have a 7D that I use without this problem. The problem being that with 'portrait' photos LR3 doesn't rotate them on import, or automatically at some other point, like it does for my 7D photos. I believe that there is a setting on my 7D that you use to indicate whether you want them "auto-rotated" on the camera, or the computer, or both. I can't seem to locate the similar function on the G12.

It's really confusing my wife, as she's the main user of the G12. She likes to interact with the photos thru window explorer (there, they are shown correctly "auto-rotated") to upload to FB, where once they are uploaded the photo shows in a 'landscape' orientation.

Suggestions?

I know what it is like to get no answers! (BUT, I also know what it is like to get pages of help! I do not know why some questions rate answers & others do not BUT, please do not give up. The people here are really nice)

I have not had this problem. Have you tried the step on page 145 of the PDF User's Guide? Also, do you upload your images with a card reader? I upload mine from the camera using the procedure on page 34. (I do not do the step on p 145). It opens the photos in ZoomBrowser which I close after it shows everything on the screen. Then I open either DPP or PS Elements 9. All my photos are correctly orientated.
I do not know if this will help but it is the only suggestion I have.

I always let Zoombrowser open up after the download window is finished just so ZB will rotate the images for me. Make sure you have changed the setting to have the software actually rotate and save the image rotated (versus just a preview which thus would not show the rotation when using other programs).
