I'm upgrading my Brownline system. (2) D1204's & M11's that I use for events, weddings, groups & such. My thinking is to minimize cord tripping hazards across aisles & long extension cords when on location. I also want powerful lighting when off the grid.

I've considered mono-heads combined with Vagabond or Innovatronix power supplies, but like the integration of the Speedotron Digital Explorer 1500 design. Strobist OCF is not a consideration. I have one 580EX II/OC-E3/CP-E4/CPM-E4 set-up, that's enough. Too much fiddling with AA batteries, chargers, dead cells, etc..

My plan is for (2) Digital Explorer 1500 power supplies & (4) lights, giving me the option of running 1 or 2 lights off of each power head. I haven't decided which lights yet... but, am leaning towards used 106's & adapter cables because of their compatibility with high output power supplies (rentable, if needed).

Who uses the Digital Explorer 1500 system? Are 106's OK? Will they fire at the lowest settings? Will I run into color temperature issues when dialing down?
