I'm not sure if I've changed a setting or something else has but for some reason any photographs/pictures which I know are red in colour and actually look red in the thumbnail display as orange in photo viewer and even in photoshop.

I'm using Windows 7 with a Dell 2209WA monitor.

I also use a Pantone huey but even if I switch it off the reds still look orange.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian

Not really much to go on here. Is this something that just started? If the same file/s are viewed on another computer how do they look? Maybe post the image and a screen shot of the same image opened in one of the programs mentioned above.

Sound like the images show orange in color managed applications, yet red in non color managed applications?
In that case, they might be orange...

Here is an example that I tested from the internet which is definitely red.

The First is the actual picture and the second image is a screenshot of the same image.

It's only happened over the last week or two. I've even reinstalled my graphics card driver to make sure it wasn't that and checked the card is installed correctly in it's slot.

When I look at the picture on my laptop it looks fine (ie same as picture 1)

Thanks for the help.

Of the picture, the monitor or something else?

My photos are sRGB 24 bit depth

Under Color Management within Windows 7 it's currently set to huey D65 G2.2 A26.54 if that's the correct thing?

Or under Advanced the Windows color system defaults are System Default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1)

Apologies for sounding vague but I've never really understood colour profiles.

With the exception of these two, which have no color space assigned. Somewhere in your workflow you lost the sRGB tag.

It would be helpful if you gave us a step by step synopsis of your colormanaged workflow... from raw image to final saved jpg output.

I'm not even sure what a color managed workflow is.

I take a photo with a canon 40D set to sRGB and then copy them onto the pc using a card reader.

I don't even use RAW that often either.

The photo shown above is a sample photo saved from the internet so isn't even one I've taken and manipulated in any shape or form which is why I think it must be a PC setting of some sort.

Take a screenshot of all the tabs of windows color management and post them here. In addition go ahead and post a screenshot of the photoshop color management settings.

Its possible that one of your profiles was inaccurate and, even though the settings are correct, it results in a off image.

Since the example above is a photo taken from the internet (against the rules to post it here, by the way) + a screen capture, the problem is an OS glitch - the Huey not loading its profile - or a corrupt profile. The Huey should do a decent job with the 2209. I have its brother the 2311 and previously when I used the Huey software it was ok (I still use the Huey puck but with different software now). So the first thing I'd say is to recalibrate.

Under Color Management within Windows 7 it's currently set to huey D65 G2.2 A26.54 if that's the correct thing?

Or under Advanced the Windows color system defaults are System Default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1)

If recalbrating doesn't help, I would set the system default to the Huey profile. Click on "Use my settings" and then add the profile into the box if it's not already there and make it the system default.

Sorry for the delay.

The relevant screenshots are attached. I've recalibrated Huey and even uninstalled and reinstalled it. :(

Your PS settings are wrong: You are not using color management.

Windows is also wrong. First of all I'd remove all profiles besides the one you generated from the monitor screen. Secondly, in the advanced tab the device profile should be your monitor profile. The next line down should be WCS profile for ICC viewing conditions...not sRGB.
