Just got back from vacation and noted that alot of my photos have the same bothersome haze... Is there a procedure in Lightrrom 3 to correct this?

Here are some examples...

Looks like your lens was fogged up.

Your best bet is to increase contrast greatly. It'll never be "perfect" though

Also, pull the color temperature(especially if you shot RAW) to warm up the image a good deal.

In LR you can darken the tone curve for the darks but in PS you can open up the green and blue channels, even auto tone/levels in PS does nicely for a single click

Looks like a combination of:
Improper WB - Tungsten preset, use Daylight preset or click-WB on white letters in sign.
Low black point, raise black until it just starts to clip
Improper white point, raise Exposure until it starts to clip and then back off a bit.
Poor sharpening.

patspicasa, if you change profile to Image Editing OK, or give me permission, I can post a quickie fix example using just your JPG...RAW converter would do even better.

Yeah... Couldn't you politely ask that woman to move out of camera range for a minute so you could get a clearer shot of the sign? ;)

Didn't know you are such an admirer of shapely signs.

That was an interesting challenge.
I'd be happy to send you the .xmp file so you can work on the original file.

This really, really looks like the results of using a UV/'protective' filter.
