No, I just made up the rumor.

Even if such a path would seem logical it's unlikely it will happen as those bodies are dedicated to a different type of customers and not your average Joe homeshooter who wants to film his kids baseball game or bugs sitting on flowers. Canon knows what they are doing, have some faith in them. | Lots of cheap camera gear |

May 02, 2011 08:25 | #7 It is nicer than you think. Just being able to fold it away and keep nose grease off of it is a huge plus. I'm not sure it would end up on the 1 series though....it would definitely affect weather sealing and long term durability. I could see it on the 7D Mk II for sure, but not sure if it will go to full frame bodies. Cameras: 7D2, S100

If you want to swivel them and have them in the same position as current fixed screen DSLRs, then you can do. However I quite often like to take landscape shots near ground level. I don't particularly like lying in the mud straining my neck at some awful angle trying to get those shots with my 5D MkII or 7D. I get jealous watching my wife with either her G12 or 600D just swivel the screen, and then crouch and take the shot in comfort.

A useful feature, that you don't need to use. Not useful to everyone. I personally don't have use or need of it. Unlike the 7D that has large buttons lined up on the left side: Since I need to use the buttons much more than I need a swivel screen, any functionality sacrificed to make way for the screen is a negative for me. connecticut wedding photographer

It does add a extra parts, it adds a hinge on the side of the body, it adds a bezel around the screen and it seems to require a pretty significant change in the layout of the buttons on the back of the camera - like on the 60D that has small buttons surrounding the rear wheel: Hosted photo: posted by timnosenzo in ./showthread.php?p=12332123&i=i161791577 forum: Photography Industry News Unlike the 7D that has large buttons lined up on the left side: Hosted photo: posted by timnosenzo in ./showthread.php?p=12332123&i=i144938370 forum: Photography Industry News Since I need to use the buttons much more than I need a swivel screen, any functionality sacrificed to make way for the screen is a negative for me. Actually - you can access every button except for erase on the 60D with your right thumb - to me, that is a huge advantage so your left hand is free to hold the lens. Cameras: 7D2, S100

I would love a swivel screen, especially for video. I've been very happy with the one on the G11. Stuff and things
