Is it flat 4-year warranty now or you still have to register the lens within 30 days or so to take advantage of additional 3-year warranty? I am planning to buy a used Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens. Thanks so much.

When I bought a new one a couple months ago, it said you had to register it online to get the extra 3 years, but I don't remember it saying it had to be within a set number of days. -Phil

May 02, 2011 18:27 | #6 It comes with the original receipt (and everything else) but it's already over an year. So, the only warranty I can get is extended one and that's why the question. And this is important too as this lens may have focus issues on my 5D II. I know more about gear than I know about photography

Edit: I heard somewhere you have to register it within XX days. Owner says he hasn't registered the lens with the Sigma. there's nothing here that says it needs to be done in XX amount of days Andre or Dre

They told me that I needed to have the receipt even if it was registered. I asked about gifts and they said that they only honor repairs with the warranty. Now, they did not tell me that a gift had to be a brand new lens, so I don’t see how the name on the receipt will make any difference at all. alpha_1976 wrote in post #12335755 OK. If I send the lens in with original receipt are they going to ask me a copy my DL or something? I know warranty is not transferable which is true for Canon one too but I have used it on occasions and I wasn't the original owner. All they wanted to see is a copy of receipt.
