Need a setup to trip shutter and flash, help

I've got a bluebird nesting in a howllow branch stump, she and her mate bring bugs. I've tried to stop her in flight just before they enter but haven't been able to get anything decent.
I've got 2 580's, a 1Dmkiii, and a 500mm lens.
I need some sort of infra-red or laser to trigger both the camera and flashes. Would greatly appreciate recommendations on good inexpensive equipment.

Paul,
The camera will take care of the flash firing.
What you need is a camera trigger. There are some threads on here that address your needs. There are kits here (external link) that make it relatively easy to build what you need.
