Hey guys, here's a picture I took of a singer friend of mine.

I used a 3 light set up for this. A beauty dish with an AlienBee 800 as a rim light, another AB800 with a reflector left of frame, to help the rim light and create more of a light wrap, and a 580EX with a dome diffuser, right and front of frame to bring up some really dark shadows.

There's a more detailed write up a bout it, and a set up picture on my blog, in case you're interested.

Really beautifully lit; if he's a soul/jazz/RnB singer, you've nailed it; I already imagine he has quite a smooth voice. I would've liked to have had just a soft touch of light on his back, just to faiiiiintly outline his figure, as he has a rim light pretty much all the way around him, but you lose him there. Really wonderful image though.

I dont see where the 580EX is lighting him from the right. Where's it aimed at?

Great stuff. Have you tried a vertical crop? I think it would really work with the vertical line of the mic stand.

Thanks every one.
@JackAhearts, the 580 is bringing up the over all shadows, on the right side and a bit towards camera, without it it would fall to pure black, I also didn't want to make it to obvious, and give light a sense of direction.
@Pixelmagic, I haven't tried a vertical crop, I tend to gravitate towards having some negative space, but I'll give it shot, and post it here later.
