It was finally nice enough to get outside and take some pictures! My daughter and niece love their outdoor time so we took them to the park. I haven't had that many outdoor photo opportunities since starting out last fall and most of my pictures have been in my condo, so I was very excited to see what happened. While it was a tough time running after a 15 month old and a 17 month old and I couldn't get them to stand together for very long...I was pretty happy with how it turned out! C&C is always welcome.

Absolutely love #4. Great shot!! ;)

Not crazy about your processing, but that's so subjective and I'm kinda old school on that stuff... (they look a little overexposed, washed out and overly yellow on my color corrected monitor)

I am glad you like #4... that was one of my favorite shots of my daughter that day :)

I actually was trying to do something different with the processing to give it a muted, vintagy, dreamy summer effect. I didn't want a natural photo and tried being more creative in tone. I thought the SOOC shots were rather underexposed so that must be part of the processing or user error! I'm still learning about everything! :) I'm sad you aren't a fan but completely respect your point of view!

i very much like the idea you were going for. it gives it that spring, warm, vintage look to it.

Thanks! The first one I call their "almost" hug. My niece loves to give hugs, but my daughter isn't so sure about it yet :) We bought them new outfits and thought we'd try them on outside for the one nice day we had here this weekend. I thought they worked well for the tone of the pictures...

I'm actually seeing this style quite a bit, particularly in kid portriats. I've got a few friends that are mom/photographers who do something simliar with thier PP.

Yes it is :) It's funny, my late father used to stand kind of like this all the time, so I thought it was so cute when I found that I snapped her doing the same thing! Reminds me of him.

Yes, I've been seeing it a lot too and think it is beautiful. I may not have done it quite as successfully as some others, but I like trying things out and think it added just a little something that I needed in the pictures.

I think these are pretty successful. Maybe kick the contrast up a bit but you captured the moments really well.

what software are you using?

I am using Digital Photo Professional to open the RAW files and tweak exposure (I also have Lightroom 3) and then used Photoshop CS3 for the rest of the color tweaking. I could see upping the contrast a little bit if it still left a little haziness... Thanks for your suggestion! :)

I like them all and the PP! Thanks for sharing. I would apply that same PP on #1 to #4. Seems you have an extra layer of texture.

I did try out some texture on #1 and a couple others in the set that I didn't post. But I could definitely try it out on #4 and see how it looks. Thank you!!
