I'm shooting a post destination wedding reception in a few weeks, my first of any kind. The B&G got married in Mexico and this will be there reception back home.

Luckily my wife's cousin got married this past weekend and I was able to practice during the reception, they had an uncle shoot their wedding so he didn't care that I was firing away, but I was careful not to use my flash when he was getting important "moment" shots like the entrance, cake cutting, etc..

Learned a lot doing this so I am very grateful things worked out the way they did:

You need to work on your framing. For instance 1,2,5 and 7 have dead space above with 7 being the worst offender since it's framed loosely and have so much space up top, but you cut off their feet.

You also need to work on your consistency. Color temps are vastly different on some of the photos. 4 & 5 look too warm and 6 looks too cool.

Awesome, thank you.

4&5 look so much different because they were shot high ISO, no flash so I did a lot to bring up the exposure and kill the noise. I will definitely pay closer attention to temps, luckily this can be easily fixed.

The framing: I guess I get screwed up on portrait orientation by trying to make sure the pictures don't end up too "square" when eliminating dead space overhead?

These are the things I forget about because I'm so concerned with exposure and focus...

number 6, the parents I assume, is a beautiful display of their relationship. I'd crop that sucker closer and print it for them.

Stick w/ full body or crop tight w/ the upper body? I'm thinking since she isn't exactly skinny probably crop tight upper.

This is the parents of the groom and my wife's aunt and uncle, 2 of my favorite people in the world and I am glad I captured this moment...one of those points in time where you realize why you picked a camera in the first place.
