Much much better then the YN pack, the first one I got had the same issue, sent it back but the second they sent me is and has been kicking a$$ so far. The only thing is that the tray is a touch hard to get in and out but manageable for $21.00.

I have owned and used Canon packs, YN packs and Pixel packs.
The significant differences are:
Canon; nice electronics, tray tabs broke easily
YN; less sophisticated looking electronics, contacter tabs could be problematic, tray tabs are durable.
(Canon and YN trays are interchangable)
Pixel: has two circuits to high voltage interface with flash, if one fails other one will continue to function. Early versions had problems with contactor tabs. The last three I purchased have been very good performers.

Out of the three I think the Pixel pack would be the better choice, but they all look the same, as far as the internals go I never said there was no difference. ;)

What about the "Clicking" sounds the Pixel unit makes? Is it really as loud as these videos seem to imply?

Canon packs make a noise too. There's not much difference between them sound wise.

Does the Canon CP-E4 or CP-E3 also make a clicking sound?

I have an older Canon CP-E2 and also a Yongnuo SF-17.(copy of a CP-E2) They both make a soft, high pitched whine as they charge the flash, but no clicking sound.

I have CP-E3 and CP-E4. They make a buzzing sound, I don't remember a click from them, or from the pixelhk either.

My Shoot pack of flea bay makes no sound, but the YN packs when I had them and when they worked made a high pitch whining sounds when you put your ear next to it, the shoot pack doesn't. Go figure. But my YN packs never made a clicking sound.

Not really. If I hold the unit up to my ear, it's still not as loud as it is in the video. I usually wear it on my belt, and it's hardly audible at all. If there's any background noise in the room, you wouldn't even notice it. I did get mine last year, though. I'm not really sure if it's the old or new version :-|
