The BB 222-UL is lighter and more comfortable especially if your gonna load it with more gear.

I do not have a lot of gear since I'm just starting out. But as of right now, I have another lens in mind, flash and mic.

Would be carrying 2 lens, 60D with a lens, flash, mic, gps unit, laptop charger, cleaning kit/charger for camera, sunglasses are what I would need to fit in there. Also of course, a laptop.

Both 222 and 205 looks nice.

Most 16" laptops are just 15.6 laptops but instead of a normal screen, it's a wide screen. I have tried some 15.6" backpacks when I first got my laptop and it was too tight for my liking.

Yah, I find some descriptions misleasing. They mention MOST 15.6" or 17" screen will fit. No mention sometimes of actual dimensions of the laptop compartment. No mention if widescreen or not.

A 17" MBP Heigh, Width, Depth is .98x15.47x10.51 inches, A 15" MBP (HWD) is .95x14.35x9.82.

I should rephrase that lol.

I have a laptop bag made for a laptop but I want something to protect the DSLR. It's just a normal bag with a laptop compartment and another compartment for random stuff and I have room in there but no where near enough room for those inserts. I was thinking that as well but it would probably be better to just get a bag made for that.

As of right now, I'm carrying around two bags. One for a laptop and one for the DSLR. I want to try and eliminate that to one. so I can carry something else like a tripod or something.

Okay... I thought you had a great laptop backpack you were comfortable with and just needed inserts for camera gear protection. ;)

Definitely... finding a camera/laptop backpack that fits everything is my goal too!

I don't mind carrying both but sometimes it sucks to carry two onto a plane and try and find room for both without separating them. I usually put my camera bag under the seat but I'm a tall person and it limits my leg room.

Crap, now I can't decide. I like the Kata 205 and 222 and now the TT Shapeshifter.

Looking for same thing as OP.

@UMbear: I'm eyeing the Bug 203 as well. The Dell E5610 is listed as a 14.74" width. My laptop is about 15.5" in width. Will the Bug 203 fit that? Thanks for verifying if you can.

So, my E6510, with the "extended" battery (no idea, but maybe 9-cell instead of 6? it's the one that visibly extends out the back) is <12
x <15" x ~1.5" (I hope that makes sense... it's less-than-12 inches by less-than-15 inches by roughly 1.5 inches. To take exact measurements, I'd have to shut down my computer, and that would be difficult! :)

I looked long and hard at the 205, but opted for the 203 because a) I didn't *really* need the capacity of the 205 and b) the 203 was ~$45 cheaper on-sale when I bought my bag. I also looked at the Bumblebee 220, but couldn't justify the price for the "lighter" materials, since weight isn't all that high on my priority list.

If you're interested, I can take a picture of my bag, but as it is, I fit a t2i, 50/1.8mkII, 18-55, 55-250, 70-300, 430exII, chargers (for the camera, my laptop) and rocket blower, lens cleaning kit, plus all the accessory packs that come with the bag, and, with the included tripod sling, a benro travel angel tripod.

Really, for me, the question wasn't "do I want a kata bag" but rather "should I get the 203 or 205". I'm happy with my choice, but maybe 5 years from now, I'll be ready to upgrade!

Can my laptop fit (15.5x10x1.3) in the Bug 203? This is the ONE thing (The 15.5" longest dimension to fit in the laptop compartment) I need to make sure before I get it. The 205 seems to big, just like the 220 for me.

I emailed Kata and all they said was their website measurement for the laptop compartment (13.8x13x1.6) was correct because of the rounded part of the back pack at the top. Pics would be great. Thanks UMbear! :)

I can carry a 17 inch laptop in this, 2 bodies, about 4 lenses and flash etc.

Very comfortable to wear too.

I looked at that one as well. I think my bag is going to be a Kata, just not sure which one. Right now it might be the 205 just because of my laptop and 205 because it looks it can carry more stuff. Not just DSLR stuff but laptop charger, gps unit and random stuff I take along with me.

I use a Lowepro Fastpack 350, and it fits all that and more no problem :)

I use that one, too. I got it specifically to travel so I can carry my kit and laptop as carry-on in one bag.

I saw that, it looks like everything is a tight fit in there. I'm thinking about the kata 205.
