Want to use this body as my backup and sports shooting. I use my 5d MK ii for all my portrait work. I would be selling my 1d MK iiN to fund this new body.

DIGITAL: 1D mk III, 24-105 f/4L, 70-200 f/2.8 L USM, 50 f/1.2 L USM.

1DMIII has 10fps and 1.3x crop which would be great for sports. 1DSMII is 4fps and FF so you would not have as much reach for zoom lens either.
1DMIII for sure.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I love my 1Ds Mark II but I voted for the 1D Mark III. It seems like the faster continuous shooting would be a better way to round things out since you'll still have a newer high-resolution, full-frame camera.

In this case I vote for the 1DIII.

1D MkIV would be better but it is hard to find one used now.

Being that the MK III is winning, and I already own a 1d Mark iiN should I upgrade?

You will find a 1dmk3 a good body but I find that this body tends to change kelvin settings from warm tones to cold in different angles of light. IMO the 1dmk3 sucks in this regard. Your 5dmk2 will never shift temperatures like this body. I've had other 1dmk3 owners PM me aswell about terrible metering.

Dont accidentallly over expose too much when shooting portraits or any thing because you amy also loose skin texture but not as bad a 7D body.

When the 1dmk3 lands the shot the photo will be very good.

1DMIII for sure.

What he said. I had a 1DsII for a while and the iDIII will be a noticeable improvement on higher ISO performance. The 1DIII has MFA which is a nice feature.
