Ghost Ranch Spiritual Retreat is located in Abiquiu, NM, where Georgia O'Keefe lived and painted. They have some good hikes and great views of the nearby mountains and buttes.

And, Echo Amphitheater is just up the road.

I don't know how I missed this the first time around.

Stan, your photos are great as usual.

Abiquiu NM is in fact where O'keeffe lived in her senior years after falling in love with this type of land (desert). To go from Lake George to Abiquiu is got to be a shock, unless you love it as she did.

And, as I do. I live in SW Texas and I love it.

The third image in your set above looks like the hill that O'keeffe painted over and over and said "If she painted it enough God would give it to her"
It's not but very close.

Thanks for a good look.

Denny, I really appreciate your comments. I love that region, although probably not enough to move there as she did. It's too bad the photos lose something with re-sizing and meeting all the posting requirements. In a larger size, they do show more grandeur. I read that Cerro Pedernal was her favorite subject, but I'm not all that familiar with her work.

There's a lot of West Texas I don't care for, but some areas are spectacular. Hope you live in one of the "good" areas.

Thanks, Bruce. The area around Abiquiu was good for a full day with not much hiking. Of course, Taos and Santa Fe aren't far away and can be included. You would be more interested in visiting some of the wilderness areas in the San Juan Basin, such as Bisti, although there is more hiking required.

Thanks, Julian. This area was on my list for a long time. Somehow, I managed to go all around it for years.

I really like the 3rd shot Stan. I love those desert roads with the amazing backdrop.

Thanks, Brett. I'm with you, which is exactly why I drive so many of those roads.

Thanks, Jack. I agree about NM, but somehow it doesn't get as much attention as its neighbors.

Very nice shots.
