I was just discussing my newbieness in another thread and curiosity directed my attention to my Flickr account, which I use to share my photos that I consider share-worthy. I went to my first photos, taken days after I bought my first DSLR - a Canon XS with the kit 70-300 lens. I thought this one was pretty good at the time (Dec 2008):

Sunday I took this one with my 7D, 24-70, Eli 500BXri and 53" Midi, PP in Aperture. At the respective times, I was much more impressed with myself on the older picture than I was with this one - after all, the uneven background light and visible writing under the bill of my son's hat are embarrassing:

Spanning almost 7 years... Feel like I should have improved significantly more in this time, not nearly enough time to spend! Recently was able to do significant gear upgrades though, and have been finding more time to work to improve. Great thread! It's nice to see the transitions people make :)
