After trying both I went with Zenfolio. It is simple to use.

I went with zen 4 months ago and have been really happy with it. I now have it integrated into the rest of my website. I don't have much print experience but really enjoy how easily it can be customized and the layout when viewing/purchasing photos

SmugMug all the way. We've been using it for a while and love it! Easy to use, I don't have to deal with taxes, printing, shipping, anything!

Guys,

A question about Zenfolio and Smugmug. For a hobbyist, not a pro, is there any advantage between the two? Are either of them better for having viewers randomly buying prints of your photos and making a little money in return?

Thanks,

Ray

I have been going thru the same decision process. To me, directing potential customers to a site with "smugmug" in the address seems unprofessional. or am I missing something?

I would say that most Pros use a custom domain name :) http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts (external link)

That would be nice.

I've been real happy with SmugMug. I do wish they would allow more customization for gallery thumbnails. It is on their list of projects...

Nice site. Couple of things though. Well, I guess it's more of a "multiple occurances of the same thing"...

All of my work is 100% Guaranteed or you will get a full refund no question's asked.

In your bio and pricing section, you use apostrophes where they are not needed. All of the instances are simple plurals, and therefore no apostrophe. Only when it's a contraction or possession are they required, and there are some exceptions for possessions. I'm an editor for a few newsletters, and little things like that bug me. Maybe most people either don't notice or don't care? Just strikes me as a little unprofessional.

Just thought I'd let you know.
