I've read some reviews on it. Seems like a solid lens. I'm sure some reviews of pros and cons are going to be popping up on here in no time. Just like they did for the Sigma 85mm.
However, I'm just curious to know as to how hard is it to release a lens this good with AF????? Sure MF is not a problem, but if the glass is good and some reviewers are comparing it to L gold. Would it be a better marketing deal for them to invest a little extra and provide AF functionality on such a great lens ??? There are a lot of brands out there, with some good lens, but useless to a lot of photographers who can use them on their Nikons,Sonys,Fuji etc. systems, but many wont buy because lack of AF.

I think if it had AF, it would probably cost as much as the L or at least very close to it. Then everyone would prefer saving for the L.

Major blowness, well you know the Siggy 30 1.4 is not that bad,it has its moments but useless if you are on a FF. I mean sure I can use it on a crop, but its not the same or even comes closes to the 35L.Now Samyang comes out with a nice FL lens and it has a sexy red ring around it...and its not an AF. Bologna I tell you.

With the expected price at $600, I'll pass. Wait a few months and hopefully it'll drop down to $250 or so.

Now we are talking. If the lens was $250 you would be seeing me placing an order just because I do not mind having an extra 35mm MF lens laying around that can be used for something :D

I wonder how easy (or difficult) it would be to MF this lens on a Canon body with no help of special focusing screens. AFAIK, the default focusing screen on Canon bodies show DoF up to f/2.0 or something like that.. and I find it pretty inaccurate to MF my 85L: sometimes the eyes are tack sharp on the viewfinder, but on the actual photo, the focus is on the nose, or on the ears. Using AF my keepers rate is better.

Its never gonna cost $250... forget it. It could drop into the mid-$400 range tho. Amazon is supposedly taking pre-orders for the Rokinon version for $499. Just wait for the Opteka version or Pro-Optik one they should be around $450.

+1 If you guys think it is gonna drop to $250, be prepared to wait forever.

Adding AF would would require Samyang to spend money on R&D to reverse engineer several Camera manufacturers AF systems, and of course that action would pass the cost on to the consumer.

Besides, the APS-C crowd will most likely pass on the Sammy 35 since it'll cost more than a Sigma 30/1.4 that has AF.

Not me. I get the impression the samyang has better IQ, and I also fear that I'd get paranoid over the focus issues of the sigma if I got it (hence I would be reluctant to use the AF). Right now i'm leaning samyang but still unsure...

More importantly I think this points to the urgent need for a decent big aperture 50mm equivalent on apsc (apart from the sig)... that costs less than 1300$ :P A Canon 35mm f2 mark II would be nice...

ps:. the Samyang photo samples are very promising
