And have a question:

Let's say I buy 3 lights with built-in Skyport triggers and I buy a Sekonic with Pocket Wizard trigger built in.

Can I buy a small and or cheap Pocket Wizard reciver, connect to one of the Elinchrom lights and have all triggered wirelessly by using the Sekonic?

If so, what is the least expensive Pocket Wizard receiver that would work this way?

Thanks!

~Bob

I have that set up kind of. I have the skyports trigger my strobes. I also have the sekonic meter. I just have the Skyport trigger in one hand and the flash in the other. It is not a big deal at all for me. I push the button on the meter and then push the test button on the Skyport transmitter.

Thanks, but I;d prefer to automate that a bit more. I thought about a Skyport transmitter connected to the Sekonic rather than the built-in PW module, but with a hot shoe on mount on the transmitter would make it difficult to attach to the Sekonic with velcro or other attachments. If there was a transmitter without hot shoe, this would be easy.

Sorry I do not know too much about PW. I am sure the PW gurus will be along in a minute.

It certainly is possible to do. I guess you need to decide if remote triggering from the Sekonic unit is worth that extra expense to get yourself 3 additional PW units.

Like one of the above posters said, you can just press the button on your Sekonic to start metering then trigger your lights with a skyport.

But, if you are set on the PW route, you'll need some adapter cables to attach the PW's to your lights and [possibly] some PW Plus II units, which I think are the cheapest ones now. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken about that.) But again, going this route will easily cost you an additional $500.

Nope. Three are out of the question which is why the original question asked if one PW receiver attached to one light would trigger all three lights. If not, I will abandon the idea. Unless I can somehow attach a Skyport transmitter easily to the Sekonic.

Sorry, I somehow missed that part of the original question. I think you can get some optical slaves that would respond to one light firing, but I've never done that. But again, that involves you getting additional units to attach.

This is true. One will trigger all with optical slave.

This is how I would achieve this. Just enable both the optical sensors and sykport receivers on the lights. Connect the PW receiver on the sync port. When fire it with the Sekonic, all lights will go off. Then you can trigger the strobes with your skyport transmitter as normal.

I thought if you had the skyports enabled you not have the optical sensors? I could be very wrong here though :-)

Get the Digisky meter which has built in Skyport triggering. Supposedly they'll be adding ability to change power with the Digisky later. Once they add power changing, I'm getting it. For now L358 will do
