I got a Sigma 30mm 1.4 today. I put it on my camera using my flash bracket, but the metal of the flash bracket scratches the lens. Is this normal? Any ideas? I'm a little upset that my new $500 lens already looks old. :c

If it's scratching the lens now, adding material won't really help since it'll still rub. Is there any room for adjustment? Maybe you can move the camera to the right or back towards you. gordon

If it's scratching now, that means there's no room between the lens and part of the bracket. Even if whatever you add is soft, it's still going to rub. Most likely that material will inhibit the camera from rotating. Generally, when something like this happens, you remove material, not add it. If you're handy with a Dremel and don't mind modifying your bracket, you can grind the bracket a little as a last resort. Just make sure that you're mounting the camera correctly and that it's not your fault the bracket is scratching your lens. gordon
