Hi,

My daughter had been taking an interest in my snapping pics all over the spot, I think this is when it all started:

Next thing I know she's got her own camera (aged 3!!)

Then just a couple of days ago she's after my 7D and this is the picture she took!!

I think she'll be teaching me soon!

Oh, and she's already asking for a camera with a wheel on it - god help me :D

I have a feeling she's going to need her own sticky thread of photos.;)

I've been teaching photography to my granddaughter since she was 8 years old. She is 12 now and has a intuitive eye for composition and what makes a nice image. I can tell by the questions she asks that she "gets it" and it is a joy to shoot with her. I've just only recently allowed her to shoot with my big camera and expensive lenses, she had been using my back up Rebel and 28-135 kit lens. She has taken some really great surfing shots because she is quite interested in the "subject", cute California boys.

I hope you continue to encourage your little one with age appropriate expectations and have fun with it. The time that you two spend sharing a hobby together can be some of her most treasured childhood memories!

She's had another crack with the camera and this is her shot (better than my stuff already if you ask me!)

Very cool!!

My boy's efforts with his indestructible Sony Mavica floppy disk camera:

My favourite of his so far:

He managed to destroy this little Sony p&s hence the Mavica. They can be had stupidly cheap - much cheaper than the frankly garbage multi-coloured bits of plastic with sub-phonecam sensors in them. They're also almost bulletproof and are nice and chunky for clumsy hands. Great cameras for very small kids!

He's 22 months now :D

hehe, I'll have to start training my baby boy up ;)

Nice shots, actually most of my daughters stuff is like that with her camera, its just when she plays with the big one that she gets such nice shots.

my 5 year old has been really interested for about 2 years now but i cant bring myself to ler her play with my gear so i keep buying her those kid cams. im thinking within the next year its going to be time to put up a wanted add for a ugly beat up rebel and kit lens. she's already used to looking through a viewfinder and not a screen so i dont want to ruin that habbit by getting her a pint and shoot.

Nothing to see here....

That's really cool. Now when you upgrade, she gets your "hand-me-downs". ;)

When my 60D arrived on Friday last, my 12-year old daughter called me at work and asked me if I bought her a new camera...
