I wanted to try a few things I've learned recently. I've been too busy to shoot an actual model, but I'm always available for me to shoot...:)

The main thing was trying to lessen the sunburn on my face. I've been working outside all this week and got toasted, complete with heinous raccoon eyes from my shades.

Natural light with a 430EX at 1/4 shot through an umbrella for fill.

I didn't do much with the eyes...Just dodged the whites a bit and and sharpened.

I took out some dried skin that plagues me during the summer months.

Anywho, for a headshot how is this? If it sucks, say so, but follow up with what could have been done differently.

Your skin seems to have a little bit too much red. Also, the focus point seems to be on your nose, but you want the focus to be on the eyes. I think this photo could benefit from a slightly larger DoF so that the lower portion of your face will still be in focus. The edits you made look good since I can't actually notice anything that looks edited.

Thanks for the tips! Here's a before and after for context of what I was working with. As you can see, I'm already pretty red from sunburn. I was afraid if I tried to kill it too much it would have that "edited photo" look which I do not want at all. Anyone have any good techniques for doing away with sunburn?

adjust Levels in photoshop and you can reduce the red.
