Hi All,

I have an EOS 10D and have hundreds of shots currently stored on my iPod. I've recently purchased a Powerbook G4 and wanted to transfer them from the iPod to the new laptop.

I thought I could add them through iTunes, but when i try iTunes says i need to synch which will erase all the current photos on the iPod. Can anyone help a newbie here?

Cheers!

Double click the iPod icon on the desktop. It should open a window with folders. The folder you're looking for is probabely 'DCIM'. Just drag and drop...

If your iPod is not showing up as a drive in Finder on on the desktop, go into iTunes and go into Preferences. In Preferences, click on the iPod icon at the top and then check "Enable disk use" at the bottom of the window. Click OK to exit. Your iPod should now show up as a drive in Finder and on your desktop. You can then copy file from it just like you would with any other drive.

I have tried this and it does not work. Ipod format the photos into Ipods own format and no other software can open them.

No. Images downloaded from a card reader or camera to the iPod are in the DCIM folder, untouched.
The iPod Photo does create it's own thumbnails, so I presume you copied the wrong folder....

if you are talking about photos that you have created via iPhoto and have stored on the iPod, they are stored in a low res proprietary format and can't be useably retrieved from within Finder. but then again, you should have them in iPhoto already??

if you used the camera interface or the Belkin reader, they are stored in a DCIM subfolder under the (aargh, i can't remember the folder under root as my iPod is in sydney at the moment).
