I want to do a contest where friends / family nominate a person who deserves a free photo session due to always helping people, positive attitude, overcome something terrible... etc, I also want a picture of the person nominated so that I can post there story with them then. Should I get the person nominated to agree in an email, or should they sign a release?

I am English and my Mum and Grandparents were teachers, I should know better than to mix up those there/their!

I was planning on using Facebook, make a special album for nominee's, with a little bit about why they were nominated below the picture.

I am either going to request likes as votes, or use a random generator to pick the winner.

I have been living in Germany since February, and EVERYTHING happens on facebook here, from local events clubs for spouses etc.....

check FB rules, you now cannot use FB for people to enter contests, you can have them comment on a blog post and link that post on facebook, but having people "Like" the photo, tag themselves in a photo to enter a contest, etc, is not allowed anymore. They can shut down your fb page without warning.

Thank you. Well that sucks :( ruined that plan, I do have a blog that I use, so I will figure out how to make it easy for people to get involved in the contest.

Wow! Well, I guess photo contests (I know for sure in my area) have gotten out of hand anyways.

it does suck. Before that I had over a hundred people enter my contests, with the new system I barely get 10...No contests for me for a while. :(

Should I get the person nominated to agree in an email, or should they sign a release?

If you're talking about the validity of an electronic signature, technically an email response of agreement is just as valid in every state of the US as a hand-signed document.
