This morning my daughter and her friend found a young dear laying right off the side of the road. A lot of deer live in our neighborhood and sometimes they get close to the road. She was breathing regularly, no evidence of serious injury but she was not going anywhere.
My wife called a Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation center and they suggested placing her in the shade with a shallow bowl of water & making sure she was upright so there was no extra pressure on joints/internal organs and for the digestive health of the deer.
My wife and I had a few errands to run, while we were gone we got a call from my oldest daughter saying the deer walked off. When we got home we saw the baby limping, walking with another similar aged deer and their mother.
I didn't have a camera on the way back so my wife grabbed her cell phone and at least got something (http://www.ephur.net/static/20110507-photo1.jpg
, some picture is better than no picture, but this is particularly bad!) , but I did get a picture of her resting out front in the shade before she left:
Injured Deer

Our neighborhood is in the city but a lot of deer live around here. It's kind of neat, but sometimes annoying! Like when they eat anything you plant
