Is it just me or is it getting difficult finding Lexar CF FW 800 card readers?
USB 2.0 is simply no good - just waaaay too slow compared to any FW.
If anyone can suggest a good FW 800 CF card reader I'd appreciate it.

About $100 on Amazon.

Thanks, looks really good and seems to be labeled as "FAST" by just about every reviewer! 5DMKII •EF50mm f1.4 •EF85mm f1.8 • EF100mm f/2.8 ISL • EF17-40mm f/4L •EF24-70mm f/2.8L •EF70-200mm f/2.8 ISL

The trouble is that, if they're anything like most Amazon reviewers, they've no evidence that it's fast - apart from what the advertising tells them. I have the SanDisk and get around 50 MBs/sec. read-time with a 300X card. Here is a recent thread about USB 3.0. I'd say the verdict (hype?) about them is still out, the last comment shows the Delkin getting 60 MBs/sec. which is just slightly faster than my SanDisk FW800.

Here's an example - LINK This is a good point. I thought mine was defective or just plain slow when I first tried it, but I was using one of my free no-name CF cards I got with my 50D from Canon when I ordered my camera. Popped in a SanDisk Extreme 60mb/s card and it's a world of difference. I think it does depend on what card you use, which is lame IMO, but it's still faster.

When I plug in a Sandisk Extreme (non pro) 60 Meg/sec card, 32 gigs can be offloaded in about 3 minutes. Sustained read speed is well over the 60 advertised mark. My Calumet firewire 800 card readers were never THAT fast.
