I got a few shots of my hubby's new toy for him today and thought I'd post them. I usually shoot kids so any cc would be great!

that's a REALLY nice guitar! Tell your husband good choice! Pics are nice as well. It's really difficult to shoot guitars like that because of the super high-gloss finish. Way reflective! You did well.

Thanks Dave, I will tell him. He is like a kid at Christmas right now! I tried to put it in the shade to keep down the glare.

Sweet! I love that guitar... wish I could play my guitars worth a darn.

Get some protection on the stand before that beauty get's scratched!

Thanks! It was only on that stand for the 5 minutes that he let me bring it outside...with him standing guard around it  It is normally hanging on the wall in one of those wall anchor thingys.

Beautiful LP, I've been a Gibson fan since I got into guitars. My only suggestion would try to have it in a more controlled environment with controlled lighting to make them specia. Having it outside just seems a bit out of place. Not sure if you have any speedlights but shooting inside could let you kill the ambient and give it a nice mood. I've really been contemplating getting a new guitar or picking up a motorcycle soon but have recently been pulled back into playing.

Super nice Les Paul, love those guitars. I like 1&4 the best. Do you have LR or Photoshop to darken the wood in #4, this would enhanced the photo a bit by giving the wood a burn effect.

Great subject to practice on, but it may be difficult to talk your hubby into taking off the stand.

I want to try to get some shots of it in the case. Not really sure of anything else to do...any ideas would be great!

I have paint shop. I just downloaded a trial of LR so I might play with it a bit if I can find the burn tool:o. Do you mean #5 (the one with the wood porch) or did you mean #4?

Well here's a very quick and dirty shot of my cheap acoustic from a few months ago. Very simple setup, dark enough that ambient light didn't play too much of a factor, just a speedlight on board bounced off the ceiling. With the LP bodies, I'm sure you could have much more fun playing with lights and bringing out the curves of it.

Showed hubby your shot and he said that looks like the bridge/tailpeice on his Art & Lutherie acoustic....and that I couldn't "practice" on his Gibson w/o him :)

sorry for the slow response. I was referring to #5. Glad to hear your husband is like a kid in a candy store. Candy can't get any sweeter that a LP, I hope to have one some day.

Take some close-ups at all angles.

Great choice for LP. Sunburst is my favorite. Remind him he can get a custom nut plate ("traditional") etched with your name on it. That's the way I would do it if I was lucky enough to have a wife who bought me a LP.

don't that call that color either 'vintage burst' or 'honey burst?' I know for sure it's not cherry burst.
