As some of you may know I just returned from a trip to the southwest (Arizona & Utah). Now that I'm home I find myself having have a hard time getting motivated to get out and shoot. I really miss the southwest. Since I've been home I've only taken about 10 shots, some flowers and a building. How the heck do you get back on track? How long does this last?

Oh don't tell me that . . . I'm heading out for an eight day trip to the Grand Canyon, Brice and Zion starting 13 May. I really don't want to get de-motivated upon my return!

Well I hope you are not affected by your trip as much as I was. This is all I've been able to do since returning and as you see they aren't all that good.

How to get motivated?

Take your camera out and take some shots. Do it two or three times and you'll be itching to get out again.

Think of local spots where you can go with an objective in mind so you aren't just wandering around looking for targets of opportunity. Keep in mind the novelty of the things you shot on your trip will likely appear to over shadow the local stuff you are used to and make it seem old and less deserving of your best efforts. It is just an appearance though.

Yes I know that's what I need to do, but I'm still riding the euphoria from the trip. It makes it a little hard to get the interest level up. I know in time (soon I'm sure) the memories of the grand vistas will pass. I have nothing that grand in the area near me. That's not to say there isn't anything worth shooting just that it is on a different scale. If gas prices start to come down like "they" say I might take another trip to Maine and reshoot some lighthouses. I know that will help me.
