Argh! My lens are always filled with dust, I try keeping them clean by using a chamois (eg. cloth to wipe glass lens) but serve no use, and in fact, makes the lens worse with more dust to get rid off..

What are your tips on cleaning the camera lens?

When you say "dust", are you actually referring to lint, like what you get when you try to clean the lens using any ordinary tissue paper or kleenex?

I bought my camera two months ago and I have yet for it to get "dirty". I just use a blower to blow the "dust" away. If I see a finger smudge on the lens, then that's the time I use a lens tissue and cleaning solution to clean it off, followed by a "drying" off with chamois. But I never use the chamois dry. I alway use my breath to moisten the lens first.

I had the same questions about cleaning the lens so I typed something like
lens cleaning
into Google. Two sites that seem competent are:
http://www.parkwestcameraclub.org/tips/cleaning.html (external link)
http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/6109/clean.htm (external link)

I like the first because it's the simplest. Just remember to blow or brush the dust away BEFORE using the cloth.

The second has some good info on compressed air or CO2 --- but it should be recommended you do NOT put the drop of fluid on the lens!! You don't want it rolling to the edge and getting in the barrel (even though it's sealed, I was warned it may affect cements). Put a drop on the cloth. And DON'T USE PRETREATED CLOTHS FOR CLEANING EYEGLASSES. The warning is that they contain chemicals that will damage lens coatings.

Again, I like the first for anything relatively simple to get off, like fingerprints or that spot that just...well, appeared out of nowhere. I have also gotten the Canon 58mm adapter tube with a UV filter to use all the time to protect the camera's lens, but after looking at the LensMate site
http://www.lensmateonline.com/g3.html (external link)
I may switch to their 52mm adapter. It blocks the AF assist light and flash much less than the 58mm does.
